Alton Symphony Orchestra’s Maestro Leon Burke III again will conduct Johnson’s "Dead Symphony" during the orchestra’s 2011 Fall Concert, "Symphony in the 21st Century," at 7 p.m. Saturday at Hatheway Cultural Center on the Godfrey campus of Lewis and Clark Community College.

dead symphony smDead Symphony no. 6 went on an unexpected journey after its 2008 world premiere in Baltimore. The score got some road dust, the parts got more markings and the corners of the pages were getting the familiar curls and creases of a composition that has experienced some life changing downbeats.

After the incredible performance in Santa Cruz, CA lead by the great interpreter of contemporary music, Marin Alsop, I decided to take the symphony in from the road and give it one last haircut before I considered it to be publishable.

Copia Film Festival Screening

"Every Matter Under Heaven" will be shown to theater goers of the "Copia's Friday Night Flick" series on July 13th, 2007 in Napa, CA.

Dead Symphony no. 6 Goes Worldwide

Dead Symphony no. 6 an orchestral tribute to the music of the Grateful Dead is signed with Jammates Records and is now available worldwide for legal download. Negotiations are underway for the physical release; currently slated for spring of 2007.

The double disc release of “Every Matter Under Heaven ” hits the shelves after many years of production. Distribution is in all territories except for the U.S. The U.S. release will happen soon.

STATE DEPARTMENT FUNDING
The U.S. State Department awarded funds to Lee Johnson for his concert at the Moscow Conservatory of “Infinitude” seventh symphony.

CENTRE FOR CONTEMPORARY MUSIC MOSCOW
The Centre for Contemporary Music Moscow of the Moscow Conservatory performs and records “Infinitude” seventh symphony in historic Rachmaninoff Hall in Moscow. CCMM also recorded the work at Mosfilm in surround using their newly renovated and state of the art Studio One.

LECTURES AND MASTER CLASSES AT THE MOSCOW CONSERVATORY
Lee Johnson screened “Every Matter Under Heaven ” and gave lectures at the Moscow Conservatory concerning issues and techniques related to modern composition.
